Rotate Image Online

Rotate any image or photo 90° clockwise or counterclockwise, turn it 180° upside down, or rotate it by any degree — 45°, 30°, or an exact 0.1° step to straighten a crooked horizon, a tilted scan or a document photo.

When you rotate by an angle that isn't a multiple of 90°, choose whether to expand the canvas — with transparent, white, black or custom-colored corners — or crop to fill so no empty corners remain. The rotated picture downloads at full resolution as PNG or JPG, and nothing is uploaded.

Rotate Image Tips
  • • Positive angles rotate clockwise, negative counter-clockwise
  • • Use the grid to level horizons and straighten scans
  • • Crop to fill removes the empty corners of a tilted image
°

Fine-tune the angle to straighten a tilted photo.

Corners only appear when the angle isn't a multiple of 90°.

What Happens to the Image Size When You Rotate

90° left / right (270° / 90°)Width and height swap — a 4000 × 3000 photo becomes 3000 × 4000. No pixels are lost.
180° (upside down)Same size as the original, no quality loss.
Flip horizontal / verticalSame size, mirrored. No quality loss.
Custom angle, Expand canvasThe canvas grows to hold the whole image — at 45° a 1000 × 1000 image becomes about 1414 × 1414 with filled corners.
Custom angle, Crop to fillThe largest rectangle with the original aspect ratio is kept — at 3° a 4000 × 3000 photo becomes about 3744 × 2808.

Exports are limited to 8192 px per side; larger results are scaled down to stay within browser canvas limits.

How to Rotate an Image

1

Upload the image

Drop a JPG, PNG or WEBP into the preview area or click to browse. Photos from your phone open in the orientation you see them.

2

Rotate or flip it

Use Rotate left / Rotate right for 90° turns, or Flip horizontal / Flip vertical to mirror the picture.

3

Set a custom angle if needed

Drag the angle slider or type a value such as 2.5 or -45. Use the grid to line up horizons and edges, and the ±0.1° buttons for fine adjustment.

4

Choose the corners and download

Expand canvas keeps the whole image and fills the corners; Crop to fill removes them. Download as PNG (keeps transparency) or JPG.

Rotate, Flip or Straighten — Which One Do You Need?

A 90° rotation fixes photos that show up sideways — for example a portrait shot that a computer, website or printer displays as landscape. Because it only reorders pixels, a quarter turn never reduces quality, and the width and height simply swap.

Flipping creates a mirror image. Use Flip horizontal to undo the mirrored look of selfies, to make a subject face the other way in a layout, or to fix text that reads backwards. Flip vertical turns a reflection upside down. Neither changes the size of the image.

Straightening uses a small custom angle, usually between -10° and 10°, to level a tilted horizon or a crooked scan. Since a rotated rectangle no longer fits its frame, pick Crop to fill for photos so the result has clean edges, or Expand canvas with a transparent background for logos and cut-outs you will place on other designs.

常见问题

How do I rotate an image online?

Upload the image to the tool above, click Rotate left or Rotate right (or set any angle with the slider), and download the result as PNG or JPG. Everything happens in your browser — it works on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android.

How do I rotate an image by degrees?

Type the number of degrees into the Angle field — for example 45, 30 or 2.5 — or drag the slider. Positive values rotate clockwise and negative values counterclockwise, in steps as small as 0.1°. The ±45° buttons jump straight to a diagonal, and you can combine any angle with the 90° buttons for values like 135°.

How do I rotate an image 90 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise?

Rotate right turns the image 90° clockwise and Rotate left turns it 90° counterclockwise. Click twice for 180°. A 90° rotation swaps the width and height and does not lose any pixels.

Why is my photo sideways, and how do I fix it?

iPhones and Android phones save the camera's orientation as metadata, and some apps, websites and printers ignore it, so the photo appears sideways. Open it here, rotate it 90° in the right direction and download — the new file stores the pixels the right way up, so it displays correctly everywhere.

Can I rotate an image without losing quality?

Yes. Rotating by 90° or 180° only rearranges pixels, so it is lossless. Custom angles need resampling, which is done at high quality and at the original resolution. Choose PNG for a lossless file; JPG is saved at 95% quality.

How do I rotate an image without white or black corners?

Choose Crop to fill. The tool keeps the largest rectangle with the image's original aspect ratio that contains no empty space. Alternatively, keep Expand canvas with a Transparent background and download as PNG.

How do I rotate an image for Word, Google Docs or Canva?

Those apps can turn a picture inside a document, but the image file itself stays unrotated, and the rotation is lost when you reuse it elsewhere. Rotate the file here, download it, and insert the rotated copy — it keeps its orientation in every app, email and upload.

How do I flip or mirror an image?

Use the Flip horizontal and Flip vertical buttons in this tool. To flip many images at once or create a symmetrical mirror effect, use the Flip Image tool.

Is the rotate image tool free and private?

Yes. It is free with no signup and no watermark, and your image is never uploaded — it is rotated locally with your browser's Canvas API.
