Flip Image Online
Flip any picture horizontally to get its mirror image, flip it vertically to turn it upside down, or do both at once. You can also create a symmetrical mirror effect by reflecting the left, right, top or bottom half of a photo onto the other side.
Drop in one image or up to 50 at a time — every image gets the same flip, and the whole batch downloads as a single ZIP. Files keep their original format and full resolution, PNG transparency is preserved, and nothing is uploaded to a server.

- • Horizontal flip = mirror image; vertical flip = upside down
- • Select several files to flip them all and download a ZIP
- • PNG keeps transparent backgrounds
Turn on both to flip in both directions (same as rotating 180°).
Reflects the chosen half onto the other side for a symmetrical image.

Flip Horizontal vs. Flip Vertical vs. Rotate
| Flip horizontal (mirror) | Left and right swap. Faces look the other way and text reads backwards — this is a true mirror image. |
|---|---|
| Flip vertical | Top and bottom swap. The picture is upside down and mirrored, like a reflection in water. |
| Flip horizontal + vertical | Exactly the same as rotating the image 180°. |
| Rotate 180° | Upside down without mirroring — text is upside down but not reversed. Use the Rotate Image tool for this and for 90° turns. |
| Mirror effect | One half of the image is kept and reflected onto the other half, creating a perfectly symmetrical picture. |
Flipping never changes the width or height of an image and never removes pixels.

How to Flip an Image
Upload one or more images
Drop JPG, PNG or WEBP files into the preview area or click to browse. Select several files to flip them all at once.
Choose the flip direction
Flip horizontal mirrors the picture left to right; Flip vertical turns it upside down. Turn both on to flip in both directions.
Add a mirror effect (optional)
Pick Left, Right, Top or Bottom to reflect that half of the image onto the other side for a symmetrical look.
Download
Download the flipped image in its original format, or as PNG or JPG. With several images, Download all saves them in one ZIP file.
When Should You Flip an Image?
Front cameras save selfies mirrored, or show them mirrored on screen and then save them the other way round, so a photo can look 'wrong' to you. Flipping it horizontally restores the version you are used to seeing — or the one other people see. The same flip fixes text, logos and signs that appear backwards in a photo.
Designers flip images so a person or product faces into the page instead of out of it, to balance a layout, or to match a pair of images. Printing on T-shirts with iron-on transfer paper, and some sublimation and window decals, also requires a mirror image so the design reads correctly once it is applied.
Flip vertical is useful for reflections, scanned pages that came out upside down and creative effects. The mirror effect goes one step further: it reflects half of the picture to make faces, landscapes and patterns perfectly symmetrical.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I flip an image online?
Upload the image to the tool above — it is flipped horizontally right away. Toggle Flip horizontal or Flip vertical to change the direction, then click Download. It works in any browser on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android, with no app to install.
How do I flip an image horizontally?
Keep Flip horizontal switched on (it is on by default) and download. Flipping horizontally swaps left and right and creates a mirror image of the original.
How do I flip an image upside down?
Switch on Flip vertical. Note that a vertical flip also mirrors the image, so text appears reversed. If you want it upside down without mirroring, switch on both Flip horizontal and Flip vertical — that equals a 180° rotation.
How do I make a mirror image of a photo?
A mirror image is a horizontal flip: upload the photo and download it with Flip horizontal on. To make a symmetrical picture where one half reflects the other, choose a Mirror effect such as Left or Right.
Can I flip multiple images at once?
Yes. Select or drop up to 50 images together. The same flip and mirror settings apply to all of them, and Download all saves every flipped image in a single ZIP file.
Does flipping reduce quality or remove PNG transparency?
No. Flipping only moves pixels, at the image's full resolution. PNG files keep their transparent background; choose PNG output for a lossless file. JPG output is saved at 95% quality, and transparent areas become white.
How do I flip an image for Canva, Google Docs, Word or PowerPoint?
Those apps can flip a picture inside a document, but the image file itself is not changed. Flip the image here and insert the downloaded copy — it stays flipped wherever you use it, including emails, uploads and other apps.
How do I flip a photo on iPhone or Android?
Open this page in Safari or Chrome on your phone, tap the upload area and choose a photo from your library, flip it, and tap Download to save the flipped copy to your phone.
Is the flip image tool free and private?
Yes. It is free, has no watermark and no signup, and your images never leave your device — they are flipped locally with your browser's Canvas API.
